SHARKPROJECT – Internationale Initiative zum Schutz der Haie und der marinen Ökosysteme || SHARKPROJECT – internationally active to protect the shark.
Die Aufgabe:
Mit all unseren Kräften und Fähigkeiten kämpfen wir gegen die drohende Zerstörung der Ozeane. Unser „Hero“ dabei ist der Hai, ein von der Ausrottung bedrohtes Meerestier, das sinnbildlich steht für den Krieg, den wir Menschen gegen das gesamte Meer führen. Mit dem Hai als Kommunikationsmotor wollen wir die breite Öffentlichkeit erreichen und informieren.
Die Strategie:
Am Anfang unserer Arbeit stand die Erkenntnis, dass Unkenntnis die Wurzel des Übels ist. So ist z.B. die Angst vor dem Hai ein Ergebnis der Unwissenheit über das Tier selbst.
Parallel dazu steht eine zweite Erkenntnis. Reaktion wird erst erreicht durch eine kritische Masse. Nur wenn genügend Menschen protestieren, werden die Verantwortlichen reagieren.
Diese Doppelstrategie – umfassend aufzuklären und dadurch eine breite Lobby für die Haie und die Meere zu schaffen – ist die Grundlage unserer bisherigen Kampagnenerfolge.

The Mission:
We fight the threatening destruction of the oceans to the utmost of our abilities. Our „hero“ is the shark, top marine predator, close to extinct, symbolizing the human war against the marine ecosystem. The shark is our impulse for communication and information to the general public.
The Strategy:
We started our mission when realizing that lack of knowledge is the root of the evil. The fear of the sharks e.g. is a result of ignorance about the animal itself.
A second awareness followed: We need a critical mass for a reaction. A sufficient quantity of protesting people are needed to force the responsible persons into action.
This double strategy is the basis of our successes so far - our campaigns inform and educate and hereby develop a lobby great enough to save and protect the sharks and the marine ecosystems.

SHARKPROJECT International e.V. – Zuständig für die Entwicklung der internationalen Kampagnen und Aktivitäten.
Dachorganisation der nationalen SHARKPROJECT-Organisationen in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz sowie der Kooperationen und Botschaften wie z.B. in Costa Rica, Südafrika, oder Polen, die für die Durchführung der internationalen Kampagnen sowie für eigene nationale Aktionen zuständig sind.
Ehrenamtlichkeit:
Alle SHARKPROJECT-Mitglieder arbeiten rein ehrenamtlich. Spesen und Honorare werden nicht bezahlt. Dies ist in den internationalen und nationalen Satzungen klar vorgegeben. Der Grund: Wir glauben, dass nur Ehrenamtliche das starke Engagement entwickeln können, das zur Durchführung unserer Mission unverzichtbar ist. Im Nebeneffekt verringert diese Vorgabe erheblich unsere Verwaltungskosten und trägt zur Effizienz von Spenden bei. Wir gehen dabei mit den uns anvertrauten Mitteln sorgfältig und verantwortungsvoll um.

Umbrella organization for the national SHARKPROJECT organizations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as for cooperations and embassys e.g. in Costa Rica, South Africa or Poland, which are responsible for the enforcement of the international campaigns and for their own missions.
Honorary Membership:
All members of SHARKPROJECT work in an honorary capacity. There is no commission and expense reimbursement. This policy is constitutionary for the international as well as for the national organizations. Reason is: Only working on honorary capacity will lead to the strong engagements we need for enforcing our missions. As a spin-off indeed is saves expenses for administration and ensures the efficiency of our donations. We use donations reliably and efficiently.
